Marrickville packs more breweries into a few backstreets than anywhere else in Sydney, and nearly every one of them will take your dog. Be clear on what that means though. At five of these seven stops your dog is welcome in the beer garden or the courtyard, not at the bar. Only The Grifter and 12 Taps let them inside with you. That is a licensing line rather than a lack of welcome, and on a good day the garden is where you would want to sit anyway. This is the whole run, north to south, in walking order. Nobody expects you to do all seven in an afternoon, so pick three.

Start at the top of the hill. Bracket is the only stop on the trail whose booking form thinks to ask whether a dog is coming with you. That tells you plenty about how the rest of the visit goes.

Two hundred metres on, and the first of only two stops where your dog doesn't have to wait outside.
Dogs inside the taproom as well as out, as long as they are leashed and well behaved. Water bowls provided.

The longest leg of the walk, and the reward is one of the bigger gardens on the trail. Room to actually spread out with a dog under the table.
Beer garden only. One reviewer was turned away, so it is worth a quick call before you commit to the walk.

Philter would take your dog further in if it could. The line here is drawn by the paperwork rather than the welcome.
Outdoor dining area only. Licensing keeps dogs out of the bar and indoor dining.

You are into the southern cluster now, where three stops sit within a few hundred metres of each other. Batch is the one to pick while the sun is still up.
Shaded outdoor seating and water bowls. Keep the leash on and stick to the outdoor area.

Ninety seconds from Batch, and the biggest room on the trail. The Bob Hawke Beer & Leisure Centre is a proper beer hall.
Outdoor areas only. The indoor dining and restaurant section is off-limits.

Finish where your dog is most welcome. 12 Taps is the other inside stop, and the most relaxed room of the seven. A beer, a burger and a dog on the furniture is a decent way to end a walk.

Which Marrickville breweries let dogs inside?
The Grifter Brewing Co. and 12 Taps both welcome dogs indoors. The Grifter takes them into the taproom, and 12 Taps right onto the couch. Every other stop on this trail is outdoor only, which in Marrickville usually means a beer garden or a shaded courtyard rather than a footpath table.
Can I walk the whole brewery trail with my dog?
Yes. The seven stops run roughly north to south across Marrickville and the whole thing is under two kilometres end to end, with the last three within a few hundred metres of each other. Use the "Open the trail in Google Maps" button above to load the walking route with every stop as a waypoint.
Do the Marrickville breweries have water bowls for dogs?
Most of them. Bracket, The Grifter, Batch and Philter all put water bowls out. It is still worth carrying your own on a hot day, because the walk between stops adds up.
Why is a brewery listed as outside only if it has a beer garden?
"Outside only" means your dog is welcome in the outdoor areas but not indoors, which for most Marrickville breweries is the beer garden or courtyard rather than a couple of footpath tables. It is usually a licensing rule rather than a lack of welcome. Philter says as much directly.
