Dog Friendly Bondi: The Cafes and Bars Worth Knowing
First, the bad news, because every Bondi dog owner runs into it eventually: dogs are not allowed on Bondi Beach itself, or on the promenade, and the fines are enforced. The good news is that the streets behind the beach are another story. Bondi's cafe and pub culture happens outdoors year round, which suits a dog perfectly, and one venue even lets them inside. These are the ten spots we have verified, from a dog gelateria to a beer garden that doubles as the suburb's unofficial dog park.

Dog owner FAQs
Can I take my dog onto Bondi Beach?
No. Dogs are prohibited on Bondi Beach and the promenade, and rangers do fine people. The nearest legal sand is a drive away: Sirius Cove in Mosman is off-leash at set times, and Kyeemagh at Botany Bay and Greenhills at Cronulla are the closest designated dog beaches south. Do any Bondi cafes or pubs let dogs inside?
One that we have verified: The Beekeeper, where dogs are welcome indoors. Everywhere else on this list is outdoor only, which in Bondi is less of a sacrifice than it sounds, since outdoor is where the suburb lives anyway.
Where do Bondi locals actually take their dogs?
For coffee, Speedos and Porch and Parlour in North Bondi are the fixtures. For a session, the Beach Road Hotel's beer garden is the established dog scene. And Doglateria exists entirely for the dog, which makes it the birthday option.
What about winter?
The Beekeeper solves it by letting the dog inside. Otherwise, Brown Sugar runs heat lamps on its footpath tables and Harry's has a covered patio, which between them cover most of what Sydney calls winter.
