Dog friendly accommodation in Sydney & the Blue Mountains
11 dog friendly places to stay, 9 let your dog stay inside
Two very different dog holidays sit under the one Sydney banner here: harbourside hotels that treat your dog like a paying guest, and self contained cottages up in the Blue Mountains for a fireside weekend. Every stay below has been checked against the operator's own pet policy, so you know whether your dog sleeps in the room with you before you book, not after you arrive.
9 of the 11 dog friendly stays we've checked in Sydney & the Blue Mountains let your dog sleep inside the room or cabin, and 2 take dogs on camp sites only.
Quest Macquarie Park is a dog-friendly aparthotel that welcomes up to 2 dogs per room inside your accommodation. There is a fee of AUD $120 per room per night, dogs must stay leashed in common areas, and cannot be left alone in the room.
Careel Cottages are fully pet friendly, with dogs of any size welcome at no extra charge in these self-contained holiday cottages. The Back Cottage has a fully fenced garden, and guests have brought their dogs and loved it.
Ovolo's Very Important Pets program is the real thing: your dog stays at no charge, gets a bed and bowls in the room, and is welcome through the hotel with you. The wharf walk starts at the door.
Dogs are welcome to stay in the rooms at Pier One Sydney Harbour, with up to two dogs per room allowed. You need to book the Puppy Package, and while dogs can join you on the pier and in outdoor dining areas, NSW regulations mean they cannot go into indoor dining spaces.
Sydney's flagship dog friendly hotel, on the water at Walsh Bay. Your dog stays in the room with you, and the hotel's Doggie Stays package runs to a plush dog bed, bowls and a room service dog menu.

Pier One Sydney Harbour is the flagship: your dog stays in the room, and the Doggie Stays package runs to a plush dog bed, bowls and a room service dog menu, right on the water at Walsh Bay. Ovolo Woolloomooloo matches it and skips the fee: the Very Important Pets program puts a bed and bowls in the room at no charge, and the wharf walk starts at the door.
Blue Mountains, dog in tow
Lilianfels does the grand Katoomba stay properly, with a Pooch Package (dog bed, bowl and a treat) and Echo Point a short walk away. For a fireside cottage, Careel Cottages keeps your dog inside with you, and Kyah Hotel in Blackheath takes dogs in its pet friendly rooms for $50 per stay. Leura Gardens Resort rounds out the mountains options up near Leura Mall's cafe strip.
